How safe are cell phone networks?

Many people remain unaware that smartphones face even greater security threats than home computers. Viruses, hacking and theft can put sensitive personal information at risk. However, the many integrated features of a smartphone make it even more valuable to hackers. Some hackers can even monitor your personal conversations when the phone appears to be off.

  1. Cell phone security is certainly a serious issue. I have heard that anti-spyware software is available for Android phones, but I have never experienced viruses on my phone. I am not sure how much I need to protect my phone because I avoid accessing sensitive information such as online banking via my phone. I wonder if Apple's iPhone has a similar reputation for security as their computers.
